GOP official says voter ID worked to suppress Democratic vote

Republicans keep insisting in Arkansas that Voter ID laws are about preventing vote fraud, though they've yet to dig up an Arkansas case where that's true. (Absentee vote buying is not addressable by the Voter ID law.)

But the problem is that other Republicans keep giving away the game on Voter ID. It's about suppressing Democratic votes.

Check this video from Pennsylvania.

It catches GOP Chair Rob Gleanson video saying that the Voter ID law in Pennsylvania helped reduce Obama's victory margin in the state.

Gleason's comment immediately called to mind remarks made by Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Mike Turzai (R). In a moment of candor at a Republican State Committee meeting last summer, Turzai said the voter ID law was "gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done."

Say what they will, but the same motive drives the Arkansas Voter ID law — to disenfranchise Democratic voters, particularly elderly and minority voters with limited means to obtain IDs if they don't already have them.
