Showcase deadline is Monday

We're getting down to the wire for the annual Arkansas Times Musicians Showcase.

Any of you musician types want to toss your hat in the ring for a shot at fame, glory, approbation, a drink named after you, a main stage slot playing at Riverfest and much more (including one more item in the prize package that I can't dish about yet because we're still working out the details, but which will be severely rad)?

Well you'd best get a move on pardner, because the deadline for entries is 5 p.m., Monday Jan. 7. You can enter online here, which is the easiest way to do it. We do accept entries by mail, but at this point if you haven't sent it yet it's probably not going to get here in time. You can drop off your entry in person at the Times offices, at the corner of Second and Scott streets, above Iriana's.

The particulars: Musical acts must be based in Arkansas and must have enough original material to play for 20-25 minutes. We'll need four tracks to evaluate, no cover songs allowed.

We'll pare down the entries to a field of 20 semifinalists, four of which will square off each week for 25-minute sets at Stickyz on Jan. 24 and 31, and Feb. 7, 14 and 21. The winners of each semifinal round will face off at the finals at the Rev Room on Friday, March 1. As always, it'd be mighty swell if you and/or your band don't have any scheduling conflicts on any of those dates.
